Improving Performance and Efficiency at Dar es salaam port
Introduction of New levies by Tanzania Ports Authority effective 1st July 2026.
Port Infrastructure Development levy (PID) will be implemented full swing from 1st July 2026 by Tanzania Ports Authority.
Domestic /local importers should brace themselves for an additional cost of 4.5% of the total duty/taxes computed and passed by TRA. This levy aims to increase and improve port infrastructure like addition of berths in Dar es salaam, Tanga and Mtwara ports to accommodate the surge of goods passing through Tanzanian ports. Expected benefits include higher efficiency in cargo handling and transfer, reduction of port congestion and the extra charges that come along as a result.
